MAN v FAT started out as a weight loss programme but is increasingly proving its worth as a way of building communities where men make great friendships too.
And that’s certainly been the case for Zac Woodward, who has relished his time with MAN v FAT in North Tyneside.
Zac recently hit his 20% weight loss landmark, and is delighted with how MAN v FAT has supported him with his efforts so far.
The community has proven to be a big part of his personal success, as he told us: “I had tried the gym loads of times, and just didn’t enjoy it, even when I went with friends, I just didn’t enjoy it. But when I heard about MAN v FAT Football, it sounded too good to be true! Loads of lads in the same boat, all enjoying football and trying to get fit and lose weight together! It’s been amazing.
“I enjoy the banter with the lads, and obviously the football! It’s something I look forward to all week, and we keep in touch through the week and have a good laugh. I highly recommend it, it’s so much more fun than anything else I’ve tried, plus I’ve made loads of new friends.”

There are a range of ways in which the programme helps guys switch onto their weight loss efforts and, for Zac, having a close eye on his calorie consumption has been key.
He added: “MAN v FAT has definitely made a positive change to my life, they helped me to start using a calorie counter/tracker and I couldn’t believe how much I was actually eating! So I limited how many calories I eat every day to around 2,000 and I’ve been trying new meals that get suggested from MAN v FAT in the weekly content.
“As much as we all enjoy the football, we are always encouraged by the coaches to move more to burn as many calories as possible! I’ve seen a huge difference in my fitness too, I’m constantly running around now, whereas before I was out of breath within seconds!”
