Fresh from donning our finest suits at the first in-person MAN v FAT Awards, here’s our recap of the night.
This weekend saw MAN v FAT members from across the country descending on the National Football Museum in Manchester for a very special night, celebrating some great achievements from the MAN v FAT community.
Warrington and three Welsh clubs were the big winners of the night, with Warrington picking up three awards, Bridgend going home with two and Newport and Swansea nabbing one each.
Warrington, one of the biggest MAN v FAT clubs in the UK, picked up the coveted Club of the Year award, celebrating the community feel of their club not only on club nights but across a range of social activities in Cheshire.
They also saw hotshot striker Steven Percy pick up the XIs Player of the Year. Steven’s lost a whopping 40% of his bodyweight with MAN v FAT, which is an incredible achievement.
A great night for the Warrington lads was rounded off by Girth Glory picking up the Team of the Year title.
Host Tom Davis also handed out two awards to Bridgend, with long serving MAN v FAT member David Quinn rewarded for his efforts with the launch of the Welsh club as they picked up Best New Club.
Quinny also saw his close friend Dave Hughes lift the Community Hero award with over 150 people in the room watching on.
After Newport picked up the Club of the Year award last year, Newport’s Andrew Rowley picked up Most Valuable Player this time around, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house as Swansea’s Ben Gleeson reflected on his MAN v FAT journey after picking up the Coach of the Year award.
Michael Boulton who incredibly, like Steven Percy, is in the 40%+ lost club, picked up the prestigious Amazing Loser award, setting up a great week for Michael ahead of his appearance in the Amazing Losers match in Stoke on Bank Holiday Monday.
Congratulations to all of our winners, and we can’t wait to hear your stories from the night and to see all of your pictures. Tag us on social media with #manvfat so we can have a nose.
