Why we’re working with The Robin Cancer Trust this April

As April continues to gather pace, we’re helping The Robin Cancer Trust to spread their important message to the MAN v FAT community.

The Robin Cancer Trust is the UK’s only testicular, ovarian and germ cell cancer charity.

Their mission is to stop young adults dying from testicular, ovarian and germ cell cancer – they do this through raising awareness with their life-saving cancer campaigns, engaging young adults with their digital education programmes and empowering the germ cell cancer community across the UK.

The facts:-

● Testicular cancer is 95% curable if detected early.
● 2,400 men are diagnosed with testicular cancer every year in the UK – that’s more than 6 per day.
● Incidence rates of testicular cancer have increased by more than a quarter since the early 1990s.
● Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in men aged 15-45 – with the highest rates in men ages 30-34.

It is so important to check your testicles once a month, to ensure you can notice any unusual changes right away. Earlier detection saves lives!

The best time to check your balls is during, or just after, a hot bath or shower. This is when the balls are relaxed, making it much easier to check.

How to check your balls:-

1. Check one testicle at a time using both hands (after a hot bath or shower).
2. Firmly but gently roll your testicle between your thumb and fingers (don’t squeeze too hard!)
3. Get to know your Epididymis (your sperm cord – which can be rather tender)
4. Feel for the signs & symptoms of testicular cancer – or anything not normal for you (it’s normal for one to be bigger).

If you have any of the symptoms of testicular cancer, or have discovered anything not normal for you – then you must visit your GP.

These include changes in your testicles, such as: Lumps Hardness Swelling Pain Heaviness Don’t let embarrassment kill you, don’t be afraid to talk bollocks. If in doubt, always get checked out!
