After MAN v FAT launched a host of new Soccer leagues in May, we’re following the progress of a host of guys who are in their first season with the program.
They’re giving us the lowdown on life with MAN v FAT in their league, how they’re settling in and the early progress they’ve made on their weight loss and wellbeing journeys.
Take it away, chaps!

How are you settling into your MAN v FAT Soccer team and league?
Our team (pictured above) is great, we have been blessed with great guys that are really excited about the program and playing the games. There has been a great vibe between us from day one.
What have you enjoyed the most and what have you found the most challenging?
Every day there is some type of communication within the members of the team and the league. I love the collaboration and support from the staff, the players and between the teams.
It is challenging when you think you have done a lot and the scale doesn’t show the result that you wanted, but there are your teammates and staff to help you see the good – because there is always a good side.
How are the team starting to bond, on and off the field?
We talk every day through the chat share live events and comment about the World Cup games. We are planning a BBQ, so our families can also get to know each other and we encourage each other.
What has been the biggest revelation or ‘Eureka!’ moment for you so far when it’s come to losing weight with MAN v FAT?
Water, fiber and protein! Zac, our coach, have been talking to us about it for a wild and I was ignoring him. Finally decided to follow his advice and it blows my mind how much it helps my energy and weight loss process.

Mondays at West Houston are going great and the league is looking good so far!
What have you enjoyed the most and what have you found the most challenging?
Being able to lose weight and play alongside my teammates has been my favorite thing so far. The most challenging thing for me is so far has been realizing that weight loss doesn’t happen overnight and there has to be a level of consistency and commitment.
Some days I feel lazy and I don’t wanna workout or I wanna indulge on some snacks but I feel like I’ve vastly improved my eating habits and I kinda just have to take it week by week and build good habits.
How are the team starting to bond, on and off the field?
The team bonding has been fantastic since day one. We’re all very active in the chat and help each other out with food ideas etc, and try to keep each other accountable so we can all succeed as a team!
What has been the biggest revelation or ‘Eureka!’ moment for you so far when it’s come to losing weight with MAN v FAT?
The biggest “Eureka” moment for me has to be when I hit my 20% milestone at the end of last season. It really opened my eyes to what happens when you put in the work and stay committed to something that you really enjoy.
Since the beginning I have really enjoyed everything to do with MAN v FAT and the community we’ve built and this has pushed me to becoming an assistant coach here so that I could inspire and play alongside the next group of guys trying to change their health. Nobody said it was gonna be easy, but I’ve made sure to make every single time we come play memorable and fun.

Doing well, they’re a great group of guys. Everyone is so helpful and welcoming. We’re all here for the same goal, so its great to find so many like minded individuals.
What have you enjoyed the most and what have you found the most challenging?
Honestly, it’s just getting back into the game I grew up loving. It’s incredible to see guys who thought their playing days were behind them getting back into it.
How are the team starting to bond, on and off the field?
We’ve added in Friday night pick up games, and we try to get extra touches/workouts together on the pitch for 1-2 hours every Friday.
What has been the biggest revelation or ‘Eureka!’ moment for you so far when it’s come to losing weight with MAN v FAT?
Grabbing a food scale and using a dependable fitness tracker. Now I know what my body’s true deficit number is.

How are you settling into your MAN v FAT Soccer team and league?
Everyone in the league is super nice and inclusive. There are always conversations being had, goals being discussed, stretches and strategies being shared, etc.
What have you enjoyed the most and what have you found the most challenging?
Getting to kick the ball around and relive my glory days of youth soccer feels pretty great! The most challenging aspect is coming up with a structure to keep my weight loss progressing, though it’s starting to become easier.
How are the team starting to bond, on and off the field?
My team – the blue team – is in constant contact with each other over WhatsApp, discussing strategy, checking up on how sore everyone is, and more! Plus, the entire group of players in the league have started organizing extra weekly games outside of the MAN v FAT schedule, which is pretty awesome!
What has been the biggest revelation or ‘Eureka!’ moment for you so far when it’s come to losing weight with MAN v FAT?
Honestly, tracking my meals throughout the week is a great way to score some extra points in the league while also staying aware of what I’m consuming, leading to better eating decisions, resulting in losing sound pounds!
