MAN v FAT Andover and Basingstoke coach Emma Evans collected the coveted Coach of the Year accolade at this year’s MAN v FAT Awards.
Emma currently supports around 150 men a week to improve their health and wellbeing and was understandably delighted to pick up the silverware at Villa Park.
She said: “This means so much. About eight years ago I quit my job and realised that I needed to follow my passion, which was supporting individuals with their health and wellbeing.
“It’s just been just so rewarding and such an incredible experience being coach at MAN v FAT. I’m very proud to be part of this community.”
The Andover and Basingstoke clubs are part of a cohort of MAN v FAT locations that benefit from funded places, thanks to support from the team at Hampshire County Council.
That funding entitles men to get started at the clubs across Hampshire and Emma believes it’s an important step to help those looking to improve their health and wellbeing.
She added: “I think the funded places are extremely important for men at all stages of their weight loss journey. The funding provides a fantastic opportunity for members just starting out who wish to make initial improvements to their health and wellbeing at little personal cost (other than a good pair of boots and shin guards!); for members who have already started working towards their health goals the funding provides an opportunity to explore the extra support available through the MAN v FAT Football programme.
“I believe the funding has enabled many men to take both that first step to make positive changes to their health and wellbeing (which they may not have done/been possible otherwise), and equally for those who may have already lost a significant amount of weight and are now are looking for extra support with their healthy habits to help them achieve and maintain their weight loss goal.”

Emma will no doubt return to her clubs with a spring in her step this week and she’s hoping that even more guys will get started in the coming months to join her two great communities.
“For a member looking to join a large (110 members) community then Basingstoke may be the choice for them,” she reflected.
“Alternatively, Andover offers a smaller (31 members) community setting. Both leagues have achieved incredible weight loss since their inception in 2020, with Andover at over 900kg and Basingstoke at over 2,250kg!
“If you are looking to lose weight/improve your health and wellbeing, are looking for support and accountability, enjoy being part of a team, like a bit of football, and you live within the Andover or Basingstoke area please do contact me and I would be happy to chat further!”
