Eight goal thriller marks a memorable night

The 2026 Amazing Losers fixture was one for the ages, as the two teams traded eight goals on a brilliant night at Walsall FC’s stadium.

As always, competition was high to secure a spot in the match, with every player who participated in the match having lost 36% or more of their starting bodyweight on the programme.

The game turned out to be a classic, as the teams traded goals under the watchful eye of Stuart Pearce and Neville Southall, this year’s two managers.

Stuart’s ‘Stu and Dumplings’ grabbed a pair of goals in the first half to lead 2-0 at the break and extended that lead after hte interval to possess what looked like an insurmountable 4-0 advantage.

However, Neville’s ‘Neville Wears Prada’ were to stage a dramatic comeback as the match confirmed the sporting adage that ‘goals change games’.

A quickfire brace either side of the hour mark set up a dramatic finale to the match and momentum was with Neville’s men in the final quarter of the encounter.

They got it back to 4-3 and, as the clock ran down to a dramatic conclusion, they secured a late equaliser to take the game to penalties.

With the two managers giving advice for this exciting finale, the two teams traded spot kicks until the tenth of the night. That final penalty was saved to give Neville’s side a 5-4 shootout win.

This was about more than the match result, though, with over 2,000kgs lost between the participating players and a host of great friendships made.

Thank you to everyone who came to support – your backing of the lads has been an important part of their weight loss journey and it was great to see so many family members and friends in attendance at Walsall.
