With our Amazing Losers game on the horizon, we’re spending the days leading up to kick off meeting the lads who’ll be pulling on the shirts in this year’s game at Walsall FC. Next, it’s Adam Warburton from our Stockport club!
Tell us more about your initial reasons for joining MAN v FAT
I was walking the dog and kept getting back pain and needing to sit down (the weight of my stomach was causing my back to pull). One day, sat on a park bench I gave my head a wobble that I needed to sort things out. I bought a Peloton bike, and after making good early progress saw an ad for MAN v FAT.
If you could go back in time and talk to the version of you at the start of your weight loss efforts, what would you tell them about the changes you’ve experienced?
I used to have a problem with my knees that I had MRIs on, physio on, and had considered an operation on. I lost weight, got active, and the pain has completely disappeared. My partner says I’m more confident and outgoing. I take more photos (weirdly in the 6/12 month period of be being at my biggest I have almost no photos of myself). It’s changed me in every way imaginable.

Who would you like to thank for their help in your progress?
My family were a big support. One of my ‘hacks’ was a family WhatsApp group where I posted my weight every Monday, alongside my exercise goals for the week (and how I got on last week). That friendly but competitive accountability really helped.
What are your future hopes around your health and wellbeing?
I’m getting married in December and just want to be the best version of myself.
How much are you looking forward to the game in May?
Super excited! Reece (from Stockport MAN v FAT) played less year and told me how amazing the experience was – I’m hoping for more of the same!
