Tell us a bit about your experience as part of the coaching team with MAN v FAT
I’ve been with MAN v FAT for over 5 years. I started the Basingstoke club in February 2020, which was then halted by COVID after just one session. During this time, I was paired with a Senior Coach and worked remotely with them for about 6 months on the MAN v FAT Challenge Programme where I gained some fantastic first-hand coaching experience. The Basingstoke club then fully kicked off in 2021, and the same year I took over the Andover club.
Last year the Basingstoke club expanded from 8-12 teams, with the community continuing to grow from strength to strength. For Andover, we are 4 teams strong, with a growing community.
Last year I became a Senior Coach, I have taken this role extremely seriously and have thoroughly enjoyed seeing other local club and completing Quality Assurance visits. Being a club Coach has been/is an incredible experience, no two sessions are the same, 5 years on I’m still learning, and most importantly enjoying it!
What do you enjoy the most about supporting the lads in your club?
As a qualified Nutritionist, I enjoy speaking with members and helping to empower them to identify positive changes they could make to their diet/lifestyle to improve their health and wellbeing. Seeing members achieve their goals and knowing I may have played some part in helping them is what makes my job especially enjoyable.
What are you hoping you can achieve by being a part of the coach committee?
I have (I think!) some fantastic ideas I hope to develop with fellow Coaches/Managers. I would like to utilise my extensive knowledge in nutrition, exercise, and health coaching to enhance the support MAN v FAT provides to Coaches of all levels (New-Senior, and Assistant Coaches too), which I hope will contribute to the already fantastic support provided to our members.
