Why did you join MAN v FAT in the first place?
I played football at work during my lunch break, I hadn’t played for years and I was so off the pace it was embarrassing. It was a crossroads for me, so I decided I wanted to lose weight and improve my fitness. I found MAN v FAT and haven’t looked back since.
What have been the best and hardest bits of your efforts to get to BMI Boss status?
I did not want to let my teammates down, so all through the week I focused on being accountable and making good food choices, then seeing the results on the scales at MAN v FAT and then on the pitch was a real boost.
Getting home after sessions having played well and lost weight was such a buzz, it helps you stay focused on the process and realise what you are striving for.
What are the biggest benefits you’re now feeling from being at a healthy weight?
There were things happening to me in life that I had put down to getting older, medical ailments such as aching joints, snoring, heartburn at night, getting out of breath when climbing stairs etc. but as I started to lose weight these things eased and I realised that I was just out of shape and I’ve now got my old self back.
I’m as fit and happy as I’ve ever been and feel proud of what I have achieved.
How important has the MAN v FAT community been in getting you to this stage – and keeping you there?
The lads at MAN v FAT Preston are a great bunch whilst also ultra competitive, it’s just the right blend to help you feel supported with friendly people to talk to and the competitive drive to push you to be better, lose the weight and score on and off the pitch.
