Why did you join MAN v FAT in the first place?
Changing job to less active job and reached a weight I have never been (99kg) and felt I had to do something before I ended up hitting 100Kg. I wasn’t confident in my body or the clothes I was wearing.
What have been the best and hardest bits of your efforts to get to BMI Boss status?
I reached a point where my weight had plateaued for about 3 months. I tried several different methods of increasing cardio, calorie deficit and intermittent fasting.
Eventually I slowly and consistently was able to lose the weight to be able to reach BMI Boss and have been able to maintain a healthy weight since.
The best bit has been the recognition from friends, family and colleagues about how well I look – that also gives myself pride in what I have achieved over the past year and half.

What are the biggest benefits you’re now feeling from being at a healthy weight?
So much fitter, the increase in fitness now means I can run up to 10k continuously. This has given me confidence to book my place on 5k, 10k and even a half marathon running events.
How important has the MAN v FAT community been in getting you to this stage – and keeping you there?
The team aspect and accountability is one of the main drivers of pushing to get to where I wanted.
The team mentality and support is also very valuable. My team thrived off the pitch last season, which I believe is all due to sharing meals and exercises.
One lad posted that he had done a 10k run and that got me into running and then another lad and then another, to the point where now 4 of our team runs regularly and one lad goes out on his bike regularly too.
This resulted in regular weight loss at the MAN v FAT sessions and drive for the team to keep going.
