Why did you join MAN v FAT in the first place?

I needed to lose weight as I was getting fed up of being out of breath quickly and missing out on time playing with my children. I used to play football regularly growing up and missed the activity, so thought MAN v FAT was a great starting point to see how I got on!

What have been the best and hardest bits of your efforts to get to BMI Boss status?

Best bit of the effort is seeing the change in my appearance, my physical health, my mental health, and being able to last more than five minutes on the football pitch!

Hardest bits was changing my diet and keeping track of everything that I eat. It’s been a proper lifestyle change and very eye-opening to what is in our food.

Hopefully, I’m passing on my new-found awareness to the wife and kids, even if the wife gets annoyed at me tracking everything!

What are the biggest benefits you’re now feeling from being at a healthy weight?

Better stamina and cardio, healthier mind, better awareness of food. Plus I’m playing eleven-a-side football again now, which I never would have been able to do before I started MAN v FAT!

How important has the MAN v FAT community been in getting you to this stage – and keeping you there?

The community is the best and strongest part of MAN v FAT. Everyone at the weekly sessions are there for the same reasons – weight loss and football! You bond straight away and the people there are amazing.

Everyone is together and support each other, even if we’re on different teams – it’s definitely a one club ethos.

The MAN v FAT coach is great as well, regular check-ins and keeps everything positive even when we gain weight! It’s a brilliant social event each week that I always look forward to.
