Why did you join MAN v FAT in the first place?
I was intrigued by the social media ads. I wanted to get active again, and this looked like the perfect opportunity. I had never played soccer before and always felt intimidated trying anywhere else, but this felt welcoming, low-pressure, and focused on the shared goal of losing weight.
What have been the best and hardest bits of your efforts to get to BMI Boss status?
The hardest part was switching up my diet – especially cutting back on and moderating some of my favorite foods, drinks, and snacks. In the beginning, I wasn’t losing much weight.
After tracking my food more closely and talking with our coach, Anthony, I decided to clean up what I ate and increase my activity. I switched to less processed meals and joined the Wednesday night Carrollton league in addition to the Monday night league, and from then on, the weight started dropping.
The best part has been earning points for my team on the scale standings.
What are the biggest benefits you’re now feeling from being at a healthy weight?
Physically, clothes I held onto that used to be too small finally fit again. On top of that, actually seeing the noticeable change in the mirror has been great.
How important has the MAN v FAT community been in getting you to this stage – and keeping you there?
Being around guys who share the exact same goal gives you that extra push. At the end of Season 2, I was locked in an Amazing Loser race with someone from another team (he ended up edging me out on percentage lost!). That friendly competitive edge really drove me to commit and reach where I am today.
