Martin shows caring side to support club colleague

MAN v FAT’s support of men often extends beyond the time spent at the weekly session.

And whilst much of that is led from some incredible coaches up and down the country, our members also pick up the baton themselves to form supportive communities in their area.

This was epitomised perfectly in MAN v FAT Preston recently, with Martin Wilsdon stepping up to be a brilliant example of the men that play in our clubs week to week.

Coach Olivia Hickson-Gordon explained: “Martin has achieved great things on the programme, recently hitting his BMI Boss status.

“However, I also wanted to recognise what an absolute superhero Martin was last week.

“When one of his players, who has ongoing health conditions, didn’t answer his door or phone, Martin knew something wasn’t right. Rather than leaving it, he stayed with some teammates, kept trying to make contact, and supported this player in getting treatment and even took him home after many hours.

“In doing all of this, Martin and some of his teammates sacrificed their weigh-in and their game to put a friend’s wellbeing first.

“To me, that’s exactly what MAN v FAT is all about. Yes, we’re here for weight loss and football, but more importantly, we’re a community that looks after one another.

“Martin, thank you. You went above and beyond, and I’m incredibly grateful. You’re a real credit to the Yellows, to the Preston club and MAN v FAT philosophy.”

A huge thanks to Martin from everyone at MAN v FAT for epitomising the spirit by which we hope our clubs run. You’re a star!
