With our Amazing Losers game on the horizon, we’re spending the days leading up to kick off meeting the lads who’ll be pulling on the shirts in this year’s game at Walsall FC. We go to Yeovil next to meet George Reid.

Owing to a torn meniscus requiring surgery, George will be unable to play in the Amazing Loser 2026 game, but is already looking forward to maintaining his BMI Boss status culminating in a deferred place to participate in the Amazing Loser 2027 game.

Tell us more about your initial reasons for joining MAN v FAT

My brother joined MAN v FAT Bournemouth and recommended the structure and community, I’d just moved to Somerset with my girlfriend and didn’t really know anyone. I wanted to lose weight and start socialising!

If you could go back in time and talk to the version of you at the start of your weight loss efforts, what would you tell them about the changes you’ve experienced?

You can do it! With good structure which allows for moderation but also good oversight of consumption, you can make the changes which you wanted to make for more years you can remember. You do have the willpower and commitment, and you will end up taking for granted things like: clothes fitting, not getting hot and sweaty when going for a walk or not being paranoid about your appearance!

Who would you like to thank for their help in your progress?

My twin brother Harry recommended MAN v FAT initially, and the calorie structure which worked for him – and I wouldn’t have ever started if not for that, he also pushed me in the first few weeks when I hadn’t really made the necessary changes.

My girlfriend has been so supportive throughout, understanding during certain weeks that I had to rein it in or might have been a little hangry! My family have been so supportive throughout and

I have to mention the coach, Kev, and all my team mates and community members at MAN v FAT Yeovil who have welcomed me from day one and foster and environment of openness, trust and support where people can achieve real progress.

What are your future hopes around your health and wellbeing?

I recently hit my 40%, which is my last milestone before BMI Boss – I have the confidence and experience to know I will be able to maintain a good structure and decision making when it comes to food and drink, which will see me into BMI Boss. I will stay in the MAN v FAT structure as part of the community and to utilise the support available to consolidate and settle into my BMI bracket.
