MAN v FAT Football St. George’s Park returns

It is only topical that in the same week proud Englishmen and women are celebrating St. George’s Day, MAN v FAT Football announced its next instalment of the famous St. George’s Park tournament. After the incredible success of the winter edition, which saw 32 MAN v FAT Football teams, from Newcastle to Yeovil, pit themselves against each other, we are excited to tell you we will be doing it again and it’ll be even bigger and better than last time.

The tournament itself will take place in late July. To give yourself the best chance of securing your place in your league’s team, head over to the designated section on the forum, find your league and check if you meet the entry requirements. If you do, you’ll find out how you can get involved there too. Good luck!

Countdown to 10k

The countdown has begun for a group of the Manchester MAN v FAT Football lads, who this week signed up for the Great North Run, which takes place at the beginning of May. Players from the league will be attempting the 10k race and raising money for charity too. Amongst those getting their trainers on is MAN v FAT Football’s very own Joe Mott! Stay tuned for updates on the chaps’ progress as we get nearer to race day.

Snack a look at that

Recent studies have shown that 1 in 3 men will only hit the gym so that they can indulge in their favourite treats guilt-free. This comes off the back of research conducted by Yushoi, who have taken the unusual approach of holding weight-loss classes, which incorporate regular snack breaks, in an attempt to find the ‘perfect balance’. Are you one of those guilty of greedy snacking post workout?

What we’re eating

It often seems that one big taboo in the world of weight loss is the subject of ‘ready meals’. Microwaveable pre-prepared meals were once seen as a lazy copout, but thanks to Tesco’s Beautifully Balanced range, ready meals can now be enjoyed by those keeping a close eye on their calorie intake.

With seven different options on offer, from Red Thai Chicken Curry and Pork Loin Apple Sauce to Salmon Watercress and Hoi Sin Duck Noodles, there is plenty of choice for those who are pushed for time but looking to maintain a healthy diet. At a tasty 300 calories – on average – for each different ready meal, they can be enjoyed for an even tastier £3.00 per product.

Quote of the week

A big part of it was realising some of the stuff I was doing wasn’t helping. I had stopped doing the exercise that I loved and really [started to] overeat. I also started mindfulness which helped massively – being more mindful of myself and my situation, learning more about the mind and how to control it. This all led to me realising I had given up what I loved. Mindfulness was a massive help in hindsight.” – @Seanbhoy on how to effectively cope with depression.
