Instant 100°C boiling water tap manufacturer Quooker has been unveiled as the headline sponsor for an awards event recognising the achievements of men on an FA-accredited football-based male weight loss and healthy lifestyle programme.
The MAN v FAT Football National Awards will take place on May 20th at the National Football Museum in Manchester.
MAN v FAT Football is specifically aimed at overweight and obese men with a BMI of higher than 27.5. It is an FA-affiliated scheme that currently has more than 8,500 players taking part in over 170 clubs across the UK. The total amount of weight lost by MAN v FAT players in the UK currently stands at over 530,000 pounds.
This event will recognise those who achieved greatest weight loss this year and contributed most to their local clubs. Awards to be given on the night will include Team of the Year, Amazing Loser, Best New Club and Coach of the Year.
At MAN v FAT, players are weighed before each weekly 30-minute game of six-a-side, with extra goal bonuses awarded based on the amount of weight players have lost. Weight loss & match scores then contribute to teams’ league positions within a club. Players receive additional support including healthy meal recipe ideas and tips on improving physical & mental health.
“We are delighted to be able to support MAN v FAT Football and its national awards,” says Stephen Johnson, Managing Director of Quooker UK.
“At Quooker, we believe in promoting and supporting a healthy physical lifestyle and mental wellbeing. The achievements of the guys at MAN v FAT, not just in weight loss but in improving their whole sense of wellbeing, is something that deserves to be acknowledged and shouted about. We’re looking forward to a great evening celebrating their successes with them.”
Richard Crick, Head of MAN v FAT Football, is excited to have Quooker on board.
“Because of the pandemic, this is the first time that we have been able to have an in-person awards event on this scale and the support of sponsors has been critical in enabling us to do that. To have a brand like Quooker on board is something we’re really excited about. Not only are they based in Manchester, where the Awards event will be held and where we have more than 500 guys playing in MAN v FAT Football clubs every week, but the synergy between their mission and ours will make it a great partnership.”
